Mr. CEO Name:

I am writing you to urge <OEM company name here> to demonstrate support for biodiesel, an environmentally responsible, domestically produced alternative fuel, and issue a clear position statement that supports drivers who want to use a 20% blend of biodiesel (B20) in their diesel-powered trucks.

Biodiesel is a cleaner burning alternative to petroleum-based diesel, and it is made from renewable resources, like soybeans and other natural fats and oils, grown right here in the United States. Every gallon of biodiesel we use will be one less gallon we need to import from the Middle East, and energy security is inseparable from national security. In addition, biodiesel can help protect the environment by reducing particulate, hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide emissions.

Biodiesel is not an experimental fuel. The American Society of Testing and Materials has issued a full specification for biodiesel, ASTM D 6751. During the last 10 years, biodiesel has been used in virtually every diesel engine type and application resulting in more than 60 million successful road miles and countless marine and off-road hours. After conducting its own series of tests on biodiesel, the Department of Defense issued a policy guidance letter encouraging the use of B20 in military vehicles.

By joining the National Biodiesel Board’s "Drive to Independence™", along with many other heavy truck owner/operators, I am showing my support for B20. I will be periodically logging online the miles I drive on B20 at www.biotrucker.com/mileagelog, helping to achieve the goal of 1 million miles driven by over-the-road semi-trucks on B20.

I encourage <OEM company name here> to join the "Drive to Independence" as well, and demonstrate a commitment to the environment and the U.S. economy by issuing a public statement encouraging truck drivers to use B20 in their diesel-powered vehicles.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide this input.

Sincerely,

(Your Name)
